Into The Darkness
The warm glow of the crimson setting sun
Lights up the open sky, and all around
The air grows cooler. Summertime is done
As golden leaves float gently to the ground,
And swallows, swifts and ospreys take to flight:
There is no warmth or shelter for them here.
Far into the deep darkness of the night
We venture, onwards through this aging year.
Enchanted by the silent silver moon,
The dazzling light of summer left behind,
Intrigued by midnight stars, she knows that soon
The secrets of the darkness will unwind.
She lulls herself into a sacred sleep
To unfold greater mysteries from the deep.
